Education

Foreign Language with a concentration in Spanish major at Monmouth University. Part of the Honors School, 3.9 GPA

Experience

In the past few years, I tutored a spanish speaker english once a week for three hours. I also have tutored Spanish and literature to college students. As well as, I have taught and aided in elementary schools in the past. Every semester I have made the Dean's List, and experienced taking both the SAT and ACT (on my transcript), because I am in the Honors School, all of my courses are at a more challenging level. Based off of my experience, I really enjoy using what I have learned to help others. I feel that because I have been in the students place/or at his or her level before, that it makes it easy for me to teach them; I can use the same techniques and little tricks that I once used to make the subject clearer. I have taken all basic Spanish courses, and moved on to the advanced levels, I took Spanish Linguistics, and Culture and Civilization of Spain, I took multiple spanish conversation labs, Cultural Anthropology, Archeaology, Sociology, Honors English, Literature, and Western Civilization, and Art History. There are many more courses I have took, which can be viewed directly on my transcript upon request. I also did some studying abroad. I lived in Antigua, Guatemala for a month, totally immersed in the language and culture. I lived in the Dominican Republic these past four months and studied at university there PUCMM. Currently, I live with a mexican family in Long Branch. I am the president of the Latin American Student Organization on my campus, and we are deeply involved in community service, such as the National Cancer Society's "Relay for Life" (I have been the captain for the past few years). Being the president has allowed me to take role as a leader, as well as be part of multiple teams and groups. Last semester I received an award for highest GPA (4.0) and for an Analytical Thinking Paper. When I graduated high school, I received the school's "Most Artistic" award, "Most School Spirited", and "Spanish Award" for being the president of the National Art Honors Society. Culturally, I try to stay intune with literary classics, and local plays, as well as college workshops/lecture. I have more to show and tell on my resume upon request

Hobbies

I am a very relaxed person; because I always have put a lot on my plate, I always liked to maintain my calmness and patience with others. Naturally, I strive to make those around me as comfortable and happy as possible. I have been told that I am a good listener, whether it is paying attention to a lesson, or supporting an emotional problem. The main reason to why I can listen and speak clearly, is because of all of the foreign language tutoring I did, which made me more aware of my linguistics. I always went through high school and college with the mind set that I do not want to waste my time or money, so if I want to be successful, I should get out as much as I can from every course; this guided me to where I am today.
