Education

I am a senior at Monmouth University majoring in mathematics with minors in philosophy and psychology. I hold an Associate's degree in education from Brookdale Community College and formerly studied mechanical engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology.

Experience

I currently work about 15-20 hours per week at Mathnasium in Ocean, NJ providing small group and private instruction and tutoring to children ranging from 7-18 years old, including one on one sessions in algebra 2, geometry, SAT prep, and vocational high school test prep. I am also scheduled to be a designated tutor for an Introduction to Mathematical Reasoning course at Monmouth University beginning this spring. I scored an 800 on the SAT math portion and a 770 on the verbal section. In high school I took 10 AP classes (calc 1 & 2, physics 1 & 2, biology, chemistry, computer science, statistics, english, and history). I graduated from Brookdale with a 4.0 grade point average. To date, I have taken many advanced mathematics courses, including differential equations, multivariate calculus, and linear algebra, and also have extensive experience with probability theory. I have also taken several education-oriented classes, including educational psychology and child psychology, as well as completed 60 hours of field experience working in classrooms at Neptune High School. My career goal is to become a high school math teacher, and I believe tutoring can give me experience working with adolescents while earning money to help me pay for college.
